Dianne Daley McClure is a founding partner of the law firm of FOGA DALEY and heads the firm’s Intellectual Property (IP) Department. An Attorney-at-Law since 1990, Dianne has over twenty years’ experience in IP law and practice. Her first job in the field was as legal director and head of Jamaica’s Copyright Office in 1995 and over the course of the next five years she advised government on legislative and policy issues touching all types of IP Rights and represented the Government as IP Expert at WIPO, UNESCO, FTAA and other international forums.
She has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) Degree from the University of the West Indies, Master’s Degree in Comparative Law, (specializing in IP and International Copyright) from McGill University; a Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School, Jamaica and was a Scholar of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
In 2000 Dianne spearheaded the formation of the Jamaica Intellectual Property Office (JIPO). Dianne has been a recommended trademark practitioner making the list of recommended individual practitioners in World Trademark Review’s (WTR 1000) – a definitive guide to the World’s Leading Trademark Professionals for the past five (5) years. She provides advice to one of the largest Advertising Agencies in Jamaica as well as other corporations on comparative advertising issues and on regulatory compliance with advertising laws, copyright and trademark laws and labelling requirements in Jamaica as well as other English-speaking Caribbean Countries.
Her professional memberships include International Association of the Advancement of Teaching and Research in Intellectual Property (ATRIP), International Trademark Association (INTA), Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI), Intellectual Property Caribbean Association (IPCA) and AEA International Lawyers’ Network. Dianne is the Acting Chairman of the Jamaican Copyright Licensing Agency (JAMCOPY) and Company Secretary for the Jamaica Music Society (JAMMS) which are prominent Copyright Management Organizations in Jamaica. She is also the Chairperson of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Jamaican Bar Association since 2011.
Dianne has been a featured speaker on IP, has authored a monograph on Intellectual Property (Jamaica) published by Kluwer Law and has authored several articles on IP for other international publications.
