Marcos Mercado

Marcos Mercado is partner and head of the IP department of Guevara & Gutiérrez S.C. in La Paz since 2006. He specializes in Intellectual Property, Advertising Law, Unfair Competition, and has worked extensively in trademark litigation. Before joining Guevara & Gutiérrez, Marcos Mercado acted as head of the trademark department at the Bolivian IP Regulation Authority. He holds a master's degree in IP Law from Alicante University in Spain, a Masters in Economic Law from the Andean University in La Paz, Bolivia and his professional experience includes working at Pons Patentes y Marcas, in Madrid, Spain. He has thought postgraduate courses on Intellectual Property at Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, Universidad Andina Simón Bolivar and Universidad Privada Boliviana in La Paz, Bolivia. He is an active and regular member of several international associations, such as INTA (International Trademark Association) and ASIPI (Asociación Interamericana de la Propiedad Intelectual) He is admitted to practice law in Bolivia, and speaks Spanish and English.
