Founded in 1998, the Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance (GALA) began as an alliance of lawyers located in law firms throughout the world with expertise and experience in advertising, marketing, and promotion law. The membership continues today to serve as a leading worldwide resource to individuals and corporations interested in answers to questions and solutions to problems involving the complex legal issues affecting advertisers and marketers.
Among other things, GALA offers access to experienced practitioners of advertising, marketing, intellectual property, entertainment and promotion law and facilitates "one stop" international marketing clearance advice. With GALA members at their side, one can be confident that marketing material in all categories - from radio, TV and print to theatrical, internet and mobile - conforms with global, regional and national legal and cultural requirements, as well as clearance of international activities within the intellectual property and entertainment endeavors.
GALA's membership structure is designed for one member law firm per country. Currently, GALA has 67 member firms from countries in all global regions. The Alliance is divided into three regions: the Americas, Asia Pacific & Africa, and Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA). GALA members meet once per year at a global meeting and once or twice per year regionally. In between meetings, members keep in regular contact, working as a team on international assignments for shared clients, exchanging information about the latest global marketing law developments, and collectively presenting at seminars and workshops.
GALA Associate Membership is open to in-house counsel and marketing professionals of advertisers, advertising agencies, business consultants, and trade associations. As an Associate Member, in-house counsel or professionals are invited to enjoy all the benefits of Associate Membership.
Here are some of the benefits:
* GALA does not practice law. GALA acts only as a communication channel. Responsibility for any legal advice rests solely with the individual law firms.
