Rudy became a Member of the Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance (GALA) in 2005 and served a term as its Regional President for the EMEA region. As part of his international professional activities, he joined the International Bar Association (IBA) in 1976 serving terms as Council Member and Chairman of several Committees relating to IP, Media and Entertainment Law. 

Rudy is a life time member of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York, of the German-American Lawyers Association DAJV(Past President, Board Member, Honorary Member) and of the German Lawyers Associationin Frankfurt am Main. He was a member of the International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (AIPPI)and the German Jurists Association (DJT).

Rudy was admitted to the German Bar in 1973. For 43 years, he practiced with the German firm of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek (1976 to 2019). Following his legal education at law schools in Marburg, Berlin and Frankfurt am Main, Rudy worked as foreign associate with the firm of Alexander & Green, New York/U.S.A. (1975-1976), and was licensed in 1976 as Legal Consultant in the State of New York, U.S.A.. 

In the past 47 years, Rudy has focused his legal practice mainly on IP, unfair competition and advertising law, the laws pertaining to health care industries, international M&A transactions as well as dispute resolution and arbitration.

His various speaking engagements and publications relate to books, articles, online publications, lectures and presentation at seminars and conferences on industrial property rights, unfair competition, advertising  and licensing as well as pharmaceutical and medical device laws.
