Thorsten is the key-contact in advertising law matters in the Frankfurt office. He is a German qualified lawyer (Rechtsanwalt) specialized in advertising and IP law, and is authorized to represent at all German District Courts, Courts of Appeal, the Federal Patent Court and the Courts of the European Union.
Thorsten and his team advise national and international advertising agencies on an ongoing basis on TV, print, OOH and digital campaigns for their clients from different industries. This includes the review of product claims, IP-rights clearances and licensing issues. Thorsten also frequently provides advice with regard to the design of sweepstakes and reviews sweepstake rules. Thorsten’s practice has a particular emphasis on litigation in the fields of unfair competition and trademark law, especially by way of preliminary injunctions. Among the clients are fashion and pharmaceutical companies, but also financial institutions and companies in the service sector. Thorsten also advises clients on all aspects of national and international trademark protection and represents them in all kinds of proceedings before the national and European offices as well as before the European General Court (EGC).
Thorsten writes and lectures on various Intellectual Property issues such as advertising, design and trademark law. He regularly talks at seminars and events throughout Germany. He is a member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR) and the Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance (GALA).
Thorsten studied at the University of Passau and served as a legal clerk in Munich and Landshut. Thorsten started his career in in the firm’s Frankfurt office in 2001 and is a partner of the firm since 2006. He speaks German and English.
